We took a shortcut to make these chewy, salty pretzel bites by starting with a tube of refrigerated pizza dough. Makes these so easy without sacrificing the flavor!
INGREDIENTS
13 ounces refrigerated pizza dough such as Pillsbury
2 cups hot water
2 tablespoons baking soda
1 large egg
1 tablespoon milk
Kosher salt to taste
INSTRUCTIONS
Open the package of dough and cut into 4 chunks. Roll each piece into a long snake about 1 inch in diameter. Cut into 1 inch pieces. You’ll end up with around 50 pieces of dough.
Add the hot water to a mixing bowl along with the baking soda and whisk well to combine.
Add the egg and milk to a shallow dish and whisk until smooth.
Use a slotted spoon to dunk each pretzel bite into the baking soda water and then transfer to a paper towel lined baking sheet to dry for about 30 seconds.
Brush each pretzel bite with the egg wash and sprinkle with salt.
Spritz the air fryer basket with nonstick spray and arrange the pretzel bites in an even layer.
Air fry at 350 degrees for 7-8 minutes or until pretzel bites are golden brown and cooked through.
Serve with your choice of dip.
NOTES
If you’re using a pizza dough that comes rolled in a tube, such as Pillsbury, we find it easiest to cut the entire roll into 4 pieces and then unroll each section. Fold each roll in half to make one shorter piece and then roll that together to make a rounded ‘snake’ of dough.
These are delicious served with warm cheese dip, honey mustard, or spicy mustard.
